It’s freeway commuting, not canyon carving. Is clear bra overkill?
It’s the opposite. Terrain is dramatic, but mileage is what actually eats a nose. Sitting behind a truck on the 101 five days a week, at speed, is thousands of small impacts a year, and every one of them is a chance at a chip. Cars that commute the Valley are exactly the cars that come back with stone-blasted bumpers.
Does the valley heat hurt paint protection film?
Heat is the one thing out here working in your favor. XPEL film is self-healing: light scratches and swirls in the surface close up when the film is warm, and a car that sits in a Woodland Hills lot in August is getting that treatment for free every afternoon. The film also resists yellowing under sustained UV.
How much coverage does a commuter car actually need?
Most drivers here start with a Full Front, because the bumper, hood, fenders, and mirrors take nearly everything the freeway throws forward. If the car runs Topanga or Mulholland on weekends too, or if it is something you intend to keep, a full-car package is worth talking through. Tell us how you drive and we will give you an honest recommendation in writing.
The car lives in a structure and on the street. Can film help with that?
It helps where door edges and door cups get caught by a neighboring car, along the rocker panels that shoes and curbs scuff, and on the leading edges generally. It is not armor against a real dent, and we will not pretend it is. Tell us where the car parks and we will tell you which panels are worth covering.
The nose already has chips in it. Do those have to be fixed first?
Film goes on over the paint as it stands, so whatever is in the finish now stays sealed under it. Whether that is worth addressing first depends on how deep the chips are. Send photos with your quote request and we will tell you straight, including when the honest answer is to leave it alone.
What does a clear bra cost for my car?
It depends on the car and how much of it you want covered, and a nose with complex aero is genuinely more work than a flat one. Rather than post a number that would be wrong for most cars, we quote each one. Send us the vehicle and we come back the same day during business hours, usually within the hour, at no charge.
