My SUV already has factory privacy glass in the back. Is tinting it still worth it?
Factory privacy glass is darkened glass, not heat-rejecting film. It stops people looking in, and that is about all it does. The infrared that turns the third row into the hottest seat in the car passes right through it. Prime XR Plus goes over that glass and adds the heat and UV performance the glass on its own doesn’t have.
Will it actually cool the back seat, or just the front?
Every window we tint rejects infrared, so the whole cabin climbs slower, back seat included. That matters most in a car parked in the Conejo Valley sun all afternoon, where the AC has to reach the third row before you reach the freeway.
Does tint protect the kids riding in the back from the sun?
Prime XR Plus blocks 99 percent of UV, and it blocks it on the side glass, which is where a rear-facing car seat sits all week. The same UV that bleaches a dashboard works on skin through the window. That is the part most parents don’t think about until they see it.
Can the kids roll the windows down on the way home?
Not the first day or two. The film has to cure, and a little haze or a few small water pockets are normal while the moisture works its way out. We’ll tell you when it’s safe to move the windows before you leave, so it’s worth locking the rear switches until then.
